Like everyone else's business, 2020 was an unusual year for us. We started off with full staff (for us that means a main baker, a prep/cook, a counter person and a cleaner. Fast forward to March and enter the dragon (Corona virus). We tried to keep as many staff members on as possible, closed our storefront for a week and a half and concentrated on our walk up business, wholesale accounts and farmers markets. Truth be told, I was ready to take on all of the mixing and baking myself. It's something I have always enjoyed doing and only took a step back to focus on the many, many other facets and challenges my business presented. I did all of my own sourcing, personally attended the Kingston Farmers Market, kept my own books and caught up on all the chores my staff did not have time to do. Since April, we are down to just 2 employees and I can honestly say I have never felt a deeper sense of professional accomplishment. So here we are..... a few days into 2021 and the bakery is closed for a week. I set this time aside to focus on new products, new ways to display them and some good old fashioned clutter removal from the bakery. I have also instituted another important change to the business. A few weeks ago, heard that our local shelters were in trouble financially. Although I am fairly certain these vital community services are never "rolling in the dough" so to speak, this past year has been particularly challenging for them. I have decided to set aside a portion of my profits for them. Last week, we were able to donate 120.10 to ARF in the form of food and toys. They make it super easy and publish a wish list on their website. Our store hours are Friday 10am to 3pm, Saturday 9am to 3pm and Sunday 10am to 3pm, We currently attend the Cold Spring and Kingston Farmers Market on Saturdays and Beacon on Sundays. Our bakery phone is still not working. Not sure what the problem is but it's on my to do list this week to address it. In the meantime, anyone wishing to place an order can reach us at allyouknead67@gmail.com
On behalf on my small but mighty staff, I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy New Year!
